2021 Kitchen Trends We Love

It seems like yesterday that everyone was doing the same white shaker cabinets in our kitchen reno’s. And while the all white kitchen will probably never go out of style, there are lots of new design trends for 2021. With the craziness of the past year, and everyone staying at home, working from home, doing on-line fitness programs from home, schooling from home; home has become our new go-to place of all things life. So its no wonder that now with Covid finally turning a corner that we are able to view some sort of light at the end of this long dark tunnel, many homeowners are now including some of these new trends to create a more updated kitchen space. Read on below to find out more info on some of our favorite new trends of this year.

Cabinet Color

We are absolutely loving the new cabinet color options that are out there that you’d probably never expect to fall in love with. But trust us, when we say that you will love these gorgeous color options. Gone are the gray and white cabinet options of yesterday, and say hello to blues and greens and soft warm honey brown hues. Think of Farrow and Ball’s Inchyra Blue or Green Smoke. Pair these colors with gold or brass hardware, warm oak flooring and you’ve got some gorgeous warm on warm tones going on.

Integrated Hoods

Another trend we love seeing is the Integrated Hoods. This look is all about the seamless blend of materials wrapped on the hood. You can take a simple white subway tile and wrap it all the way up the wall and on the hood. Or you can take wood planks and create a warm vibe all your own. You can even take your countertop material of choice and integrate that into the hood as well. All of this is to create less distraction and less contrasting of materials. The focus of this new design trend is that by creating less contrasting materials, you create a seamless, calmer and more integrated space for which to enjoy your kitchen.

Clean-lined Cabinets

One of the most popular kitchen trends that is gaining in momentum is the clean lined cabinets. With the seamless lines, minimal hardware and barely there touch release designs, its no wonder this style is here to stay. Also the absence of cabinet hardware helps add to the modern simplistic flavor of this design. There are several options for cabinet finish materials. When choosing a wood cabinet, make sure you also like the wood grain as well. If you find that you want a more uniform look, opt for a solid surface or painted cabinet instead. This will help give you the seamless, uniform and clean-lined look of a modern kitchen design.

Quartz Countertops

Quality quartz countertops are another mainstay of the kitchen. With the popularity and beauty of marble, quartz is often an even better choice, due to its affordability, marble-like look and durability. There are so many options to choose from and all offer a warm contemporary look, with big dramatic marble veining options and more stone like finishes to choose from. Choose from a polished finish look or a matte finish to give your kitchen a unique look.

Wall to Wall Cabinetry

Another option that is becoming increasingly popular is the wall-to-wall cabinetry. With so many kitchen gadgets, utensils, food and drink options the need to be stored, all of these items which are instrumental to the efficiency of your kitchen need a place to call home too. So going floor to ceiling and wall to wall with your cabinets makes the most sense for today’s busy households. Opt for crown molding for a more traditional vibe or go without for a modern touch.

Slab Backsplash

One trend we absolutely love is the slab backsplash. If you detest grout lines, and you are not a fan of tile on your backsplash, why not bring your countertop material all the way up the wall. It makes sense especially if you selected a gorgeous countertop like marble quartz or quartzite, and want to see more of it. With the beautiful styles of countertop materials, its easy to continue this material all the way up to your ceiling.

Multi Use Kitchens

Between all of the zoom meetings, classes, and cooking going on, its essential that our kitchens meet the demands of today’s busy households. With places to connect your wireless devices, charging stations and study areas area must. Today’s households need more spaces than ever to connect, charge, focus and gather. Its no wonder the kitchen is truly the heart of the home.

Efficient Layouts

Modern and efficient layouts for getting the most out of each area of your kitchen is paramount to your total efficiency and productivity. Coming out of Covid, we need now more than ever to have spaces that are multi-purpose, multi-use and that meet the demands of versatility. With all of these new trends coming our way, its no wonder that there are so many options to choose from, with beautiful materials, backpslashes, flooring, layouts, color choices and cabinet options. The options are endless. Have fun and please share with us what you are working on.
